August 2006

At last the Scimitar is painted. In excess of 70 hours to remove the old paint, prime, apply light dust coat of paint then block smooth ( Wet and Dry with flat sanding block ) prime again then block again. Any imperfections were corrected when blocked. This is the amount of work required to get a good final finish, the preparation is 95% of the work. So when quotes seem high for a paint job this time spent is the reason why. Also the paint is not cheap, the cost of the Paint, Lacquer and primer was in excess of £410 (August 2006 prices).

Many thanks to all the guys at South West Accident Repair Center for all their help. Whilst I done all the hard work rubbing down they gave all the advise to ensure that it was done correctly. It was them who applied the primer and painted the Scimitar. Information about South West Accident Repair Center can be found by clicking on their name.

The Car did look like this. Although these three pictures don't look to bad the paint work was in very poor condition.

After two days this is where I was up to. There was another two and a half days before it was ready for the primer.

Fit new windscreen and all other parts then it looks nice.

The colour is MG Rover Trophy Blue. The pictures do not do it justice as the finish is both Metallic and Pearlecance.
